Where do I start?

I decided to start this blog to be able to give people a view into my life and what I go through on a daily basis being a marine wife and a new mommy. I also think I started this to get my thoughts out and for me to be able to express myself more.I guess I should write about myself since maybe some of you reading this do not know a lot about me. I just turned 24 in September. I live with my husband, son, our dog ruby and our two cats in Sterling, Va. I have two sisters and a brother. I guess you could say that I am your typical California girl. I love the beach, being outdoors. Blue eyes, blonde hair and just love being around my friends and family. I grew up in San Jose California and moved to San Diego for college where i met my husband. The moment we met, I knew that we were going to be together forever. We only dated 4 months before we got married. A month after we got married, Danny had to leave to be deployed to Africa. We spent all of our first holidays together, apart. I believe that us going through a deployment so soon after we were married, made us so much stronger.  I love him today more than I ever have. We stayed in California for about 3 years and last year we moved to Virginia. Shortly after we arrived, we found out that were were going to have our first child. Jaxson John Vasquez was born August 16th 2010 at 12:12pm. I cannot believe in 2 days my little man will be 5 months old. These past 5 months have been a crazy whirlwind. The day he was born was the best day of my life. He is truly the love of my life besides the hubby :).  Shortly after he was born, we found out that he was born with cataracts in both eyes. We were told he would need surgery to remove them and he would have to wear contacts probably for the rest of his life. When he is about 8 or 10 years old, he will have to have another surgery for them to put new lenses into his eyes. So when Jaxson was 5 and 6 weeks old, he had surgery on both eyes. Those two days were pretty much the hardest days of my life. I had so many emotions going through me. Now every week we have to change and clean his contacts. He is doing so well and my little man is such a trooper.  He is growing up so fast. He is already 17lbs! He loves to eat his fruits and veggies and loves rice cereal! Watching him smile and laugh everyday gives my life so much purpose.

Moving to Virginia has been a huge adjustment for me and for my husband. I'm still not used to the cold weather. Lol. We have been here for over a year and it just seems hard to adjust. I mean there are some great things about being here, the food is a lot different and there are so many things to see and to do but I do miss the beach and everything in California. The marine corps is very different here than in California. Its hard to explain but I guess in California we just felt more at home. We both really miss california and hopefully we will be able to get back there someday. But for now, we are east coast people. I miss my friends and my family so much. But I'm so grateful to have my husband and son with me. They keep my spirits up. This life is not for everybody and the military way of life is surely not an easy one but I wouldn't trade my life for anything in the world. I have made awesome friends who have become family. They are the ones who can truly understand where I am coming from and what I am going through. This life is definitely an experience that is not for everybody but it makes you appreciate life and everyone in your life so much more. I just cannot wait to take Jaxson to California to meet everyone. For now we just has to see what the future holds for us and where we want to go...
